This species is very closely related to E. maculata Hook. and is sometimes treated as a variety of it.
Diagnostic
It differs chiefly in the higher percentage of citronellal, and hence the more fragrant lemon-scented leaves, and in its non-rostrate operculum and somewhat smaller fruits.
