Tree mostly to 40(–60) m but sometimes shrubby, with tessellated bark throughout.

Juvenile leaves alternate, peltate, ovate; adult strongly discolorous, ovate to broadly lanceolate, 9–14 cm long, 2.5–4 cm wide, with conspicuous oil glands; petiole flattened, 1.5–2 cm long.

Umbels usually in terminal panicles, 3–7-flowered; cream (rarely pink) flowers; peduncle terete or angular, 1.5–3.5[3.7] cm; pedicels 1–3 cm long.
