Morphology General Habit
Glabrous perennial, with an underground tuberculate stem to 2.5 cm thick, branching at ground level; branches erect, to 3 cm long, 5 mm thick, rebranching to 10 cm high, with spirally arranged prominent tubercles 1.5–5 mm long

Leaves arising from the tubercle apices, ovate, to 12 x 4 mm, margins undulate; petiole 2–5 mm long

Cymes 2–3 from the branch apices, forking up to 5 times with rays 0.5–2 cm long; bracts sessile, similar to the leaves but smaller
