Morphology General Habit
Glabrous perennial, with a tuberous root to 3 cm thick, merging into a short tuberculate stem branching at ground level

Branches 1–1.5 cm long, 1 cm thick, densely covered with overlapping tubercles, each 2 mm long

Leaves arising from the tubercle apices, ovate, to 2 x 1 cm, margins undulate; petiole 5–10 mm long

Cymes 1–3 from the branch apices, forking 2–5 times with rays 0.5–2 cm long; bracts sessile, similar to the leaves but smaller
