Morphology General Habit
Sparsely branched succulent shrub erect to 3 m.; branches 4-angled, 1–2 cm. thick, uniformly green; angles straight or shallowly toothed at the base of the plant, with teeth ± 1 cm. apart.

Spine-shields to 4 × 2.5 mm. above the spines, decurrent to just above the flowering eye below on young growth, soon forming a continuous horny margin; spines to 8 mm. long below, obsolete on upper branches; prickles vestigial.

Leaves deltoid, ± 2 × 1.5 mm.
