Morphology General Habit
Hysteranthous geophyte, with branched rhizomes to 4 cm. thick and ± 15 cm. long; stems erect, below ground, ± 5 cm. high, with horizontally spreading branches and a dark roughened surface.

Leaves glabrous, sessile, crowded and spreading in a rosette at soil level from the stem apex, oblanceolate to obovate to 8.5 × 3.2–4 cm., base cuneate, apex obtuse, mucronate, margin entire or minutely crisped, ± fleshy, green streaked with red.

Cymes produced before the leaves, simple or sparsely branched, with peduncles 3.3–3.7 cm. long; bracts sessile, deltoid, 3.2–3.5 mm. long.
