Leaves erect to suberect, ascending-spreading, 5–9(–15), linear-lanceolate, 17.5–50(–55) × 1.3–2.5(–3.8) cm, 0.3–0.4 cm thick, smooth, channel on inner surface deepest at base to flat at apex, subulate tip, 1.7–5(–6) cm long, green, horny, faintly banded on both surfaces but obliterated on maturity, with 5–7 longitudinal shallow furrows on the back, margins green but whitish with age or injury; petiole 5–15 cm long, but no distinct point of petiole emerging

Note
The inflorescence is described here for the first time. A species that resembles {i}S. parva {/i}but differs in having no bands at all, a very long petiole, an acute extended subulate leaf-tip with a hardened apex, larger leaf size and very long narrow lower inflorescence bracts on the inflorescence. This species differs from {i}S. zeylanica {/i}in having a long leaf-tip, no leaf bands and long lanceolate to filiform lower inflorescence bracts.
