Note
Often difficult to distinguish from well-developed specimens of L. nana, which has a smaller nutlet and the mucro of the spikelet bract is more often recurved. Hooper & Townsend 1971 is a mixed collection of the two. It is possible that L. leucaspis is a polyploid out of L. nana.
