Morphology General Habit
Glabrous perennial sparsely-branched herb to 75 cm. high, with a tuberous root ± 4 cm. in diameter; stems subfleshy, with obscure longitudinal ridges, sparsely and minutely papillose, often procumbent and rooting where they touch the ground.

Leaves obovate to oblanceolate, to 8(–10) × 3(–4) cm., base tapering to a petiole to 1 cm. long, apex obtuse, margin crisped or denticulate with rounded teeth; stipules triangular, 1 mm. long, brown.

Cymes subsessile, 1-forked; bracts ± equalling the involucre, free, ovate, ± 4 × 4 mm., apiculate.
