    Habit
    Stems few to numerous, erect or decumbent, up to 1 m. high.
    Leaves
    Leaves subopposite or alternate, sessile, narrowly lanceolate, acute, auriculate at the base.
    Inflorescences
    Raceme 2–25 cm. long, usually congested at anthesis, lax in fruit; pedicels ascending, up to 5 mm. long at anthesis, elongating in fruit up to 20 mm.
    Calyx
    Calyx-lobes oblong, obtuse or acute, 3–4 mm. long at anthesis, 4–5 mm. long in fruit.
    Corolla
    Corolla as long as or longer than the calyx.
    Style
    Style 2–3 mm. long.
    Fruits
    Capsule globuse, 3–4 mm. in diameter.
    Habitat
    Upland grassland; 1200–2400 m.
