A perennial slightly succulent herb (4)7–30 cm tall.

Stems creeping, rooting at the lower nodes, with or without leaves; branches simple or ± dichotomously branched, creeping or ascending to erect, glabrous.

Leaves alternate, sometimes the uppermost opposite; petiole (1)3–8(10) mm long, glabrous, lamina (7)1–25(30) x (4)6–15(17) mm, obovate, elliptic or ovate-lanceolate, often varying in shape on the same branch, obtuse to rounded and sometimes emarginate at the apex, cuneate to broadly cuneate or almost rounded at the base, glabrous, sometimes ± pellucid punctate on both surfaces, glabrous, rarely with some scattered hairs, fleshy with a conspicuous midrib, 2–3 pairs of lateral nerves and a marginal nerve, venation scarcely visible or lacking; margins ciliate particularly toward the apex.

Creeping or epiphytic ± glabrous perennial subsucculent herb, (4–)10–30 cm. tall, often mat-forming on rocks etc.; stems pale green, with adventitious roots at the nodes; ultimate branchlets creeping to erect.

Leaves fleshy, alternate or uppermost opposite, obovate, elliptic or ovate-lanceolate, (0.3–)1–3(–4) cm. long, (0.2–)0.4–1.7(–2.2) cm. wide, obtuse to rounded or sometimes emarginate at the apex, rounded to cuneate at the base, sometimes ± pellucid punctate above and beneath, glabrous or rarely with some scattered hairs; midrib conspicuous, with 2–3 pairs of lateral nerves and marginal nerve; petiole (1–)3–8(–10) mm. long, glabrous.
