Conservation
The plant is uncommon, found in a restricted area in Nan province, northern Thailand. The specimens were collected by a few botanists from the same locality. We give it a provi­sional rating of Vulnerable (VU) and, D1 according to IUCN (2011) criteria.
Distribution
Endemic to northern Thailand (Nan province).
Ecology
On granite bedrock along streams or on tree trunks near waterfalls in hilly evergreen forests.
Morphology General Habit
Perennial herbs 10 - 15 cm high, erect, epiphytic or epilithic; stems forming a clump, 1 - 3mainstems with more than 5-branchlets; stolons present, with rooting at basal nodes; internodes 4 - 6cmlong, fleshy, puberulous or scabrous

Note
The specific epithet refers to the stems that have many clumps, and many main stems and branchlets.T Peperomia multisurcula has more than five branchlets/stem, the leaf arrangement is 3 - 4- verticillate (rarely opposite) and each shoot has a single terminal inflorescence. Generally, this species is glabrous, rarely puberulous or slightly scabrous. A comparison of characters between P. multisurcula and P. portulacoides is given in Table3. Peperomia multisurcula is most similar to P. portulacoides but can be distinguished by the stem 10 - 15 cm high vs 15 - 20 cm; epiphytic or epilithic vs terrestrial; more than 5-branchlets on main stems vs 2 - 4 branchlets; 3 - 4-verticillate, rarely opposite vs opposite and 3 - 4-verticillate on terminal branch; leaves 1.5 - 3 x 0.5 - 1.5 cm vs 1.5 - 3x1 - 2 cm; margin without hyaline cell vs with hyaline cell; lower surface of leaf scabrous or puberulous vs. glabrous or puberulous; inflorescence 5 - 8cm long vs 2.5 - 5cm.

Flowering and fruiting occur between October and December.
