This species is uncommon in the wild and restricted in the protected area (Huai Yang Waterfall National Park, Prachuap Kiri Khan province). The populations are very small and restricted in distribution. We propose that this new species has a provisional rating of Vulnerable (VU) and category of D2 according to IUCN (2011) criteria.
Endemic to south western Thailand (Prachuap Khiri Khan province).
This species grows on rock ledges or is epiphytic in shaded areas on mountain summit at 1250 m above sea level.
Morphology General Habit
Perennial herbs 15 - 20 cm high, erect, epiphytic or epilithic; stems forming a clump, 2 - 3 main stems with 4 - 6 branchlets; stolons absent, not rooting at basal nodes; internodes 3.5 - 4cmlong,fleshy, hirsute, slightly and denselyhispidandvelutinous on terminal.Leaves(5 -)7- verticillate; petiole c. 5 mm long, slightly to densely strigose; lamina chartaceous when dry, ovate or ovate- elliptic, slightly or densely strigose on both surfaces, denser on lower surface, 1.5 - 4x 1- 2 cm, asymmetrical, base cuneate, apex rounded, obtuse rarely acute, margin undulate, leaf3 (- 5)-palminerved

Peperomia heptaphylla is distinctively 5 - 7- verticillate (sometimes caducous into 6). All parts are hirsute or hispid, slightly to densely hispid or velutinous, except for the rachis of the inflorescence. This species has the highest number of inflorescences per shoot of Peperomia in Thailand. The differences in characters between P. heptaphylla and P. dindygulensis are shown in Table 1. The specific epithet refers to the number of leaves per node. Peperomia heptaphylla is most similar to P.      dindygulensis Miq. but can be distinguished by epiphytic or epilithic vs only epilithic habit; stem green vs red or reddish; hirsute or slightly to densely hispid and velutinous on terminal shoot vs velutinous rarely scabrous or puberulous; stolons absent vs present; leaf slightly to densely strigose vs pilose; 5 - 7-verticillate vs opposite decussate or 4- verticillate on terminal shoot; 3 - 7spikesper shoot vs 2 - 4 spikes/shoot; fruit narrowly ovoid vs ±globose; sessile vs pseudopedicellate; papillae with­out glandular trichome vs with sticky glandular trichome.
Flowering and fruiting occur in April and May.
