    Perennial herb, 0.7–1.2 m tall, with puberulous stems.
    Leaves
    Leaves often clustered at nodes, rather shortly petiolate, lanceolate to linear-elliptic, 4–8 × 1–2.5 cm, pubescent mainly on veins; verticils 10–16-flowered.
    Bracts
    Bracts inconspicuous, deciduous.
    Calyx
    Calyx shortly tubular, 5–8 mm long, subtruncate, lanate with white to violet hairs.
    Corolla
    Corolla white to blue or purple, 10–15 mm long; tube 6–9 mm long; anterior lip longer than posterior lip.
