Habit
Robust erect suffruticose perennial to 3 m. tall; stems thick and succulent, simple to moderately branched, glabrous, becoming woody below.
Leaves
Leaves in dense whorls of 6–10(–12), sessile or subsessile, rather congested towards stem tops; lamina oblanceolate, rarely oblong, (3–)5–18 cm. long, 1.8–4.8(–5.5) cm. broad, the apex obtuse to subacute, glabrous; lateral veins 7–10 pairs; margin shallowly serrate or serrulate with several fine, 1–5 mm. long fimbriae towards the base.
Inflorescences
Inflorescence 1(–2)-flowered, the flowers pale pink or white.
Peduncles
Peduncle 2.5–6(–7) cm. long.
Bracts
Bracts 1–3, narrow-ovate or linear-lanceolate, 2.5–5 mm. long, acute or acuminate.
Pedicel
Pedicels 2.1–4.5 cm. long.
Calyx
Lateral sepals ovate to elliptic-lanceolate, 6–8 mm. long, shortly acuminate. Lower sepal narrowly and obliquely navicular, 14–18 mm. long, abruptly constricted into a (5.5–)6–9.8 cm. long filiform spur, slightly thickened at the tip.
Corolla
Dorsal petal broadly-obovate or suborbicular, 18–23 mm. long, 25–30 mm. broad, emarginate, dorsally with a narrow crest. Lateral united petals 30–37 mm. long; upper petal oblong or suborbicular, 21–28 mm. long, 17–27 mm. broad, emarginate, the lower petal oblong, 20–33 mm. long, 14–21 mm. broad, usually somewhat emarginate distally along the inner margin.
Ovary
Ovary glabrous.
Fruits
Fruit fusiform, ± 24 mm. long, 8 mm. broad, glabrous.

Habitat
Growing in damp shaded or rather exposed places, upland rain-forest, gullies, cliff ledges or on mountain ridges, often on granite rocks; 1000–2700 m.
