Morphology General Habit
Spiny succulent densely branching shrublets to c. 15 cm high, or shrubs to 1.25 m high.

Branches 4–5-angled, 1–2 cm wide; angles winged, prominently sinuate, with tubercles 4–5 mm high and 8–15 mm apart along the margins.

Spine shields to 5–12 × 2.5–3 mm, ovate, decurrent but seldom joined; spines stout, 3–10 mm long, spreading; prickles rudimentary.
