Morphology General Habit
Sparsely branching shrub to 5 m. high.

Leaves obovate, to ± 19 × 10 cm., base tapering to a winged petiole ± 1 cm. long, apex obtuse or usually rounded, margin entire or ± crimped towards the apex and sometimes forming minute teeth, midrib acutely prominent to keeled beneath, lamina glabrous or rarely the margin and midrib with a few long hairs towards the base.

Inflorescence lax in pseudumbels of 2–5 cymes, sometimes also with 1 or 2 cymes produced below, on sparsely pubescent peduncles to 4 cm. long; cymes 2–3-forked, with pubescent branches to 2 cm. long; bracts subquadrate, ± 3.5 × 3 mm., entire or with a few obscure teeth, pilose.

Cyathia ± 2.5 × 6 mm., with funnel-shaped involucres, densely pubescent below; glandular rim ± 1.2 mm. wide, deeply furrowed and wrinkled, occasionally with 1 or 2 deep notches, greenish yellow; lobes subquadrate, ± 1.5 × 1.8 mm., ciliate.

Male flowers; bracteoles fan-shaped, laciniate, plumose; stamens 3.3 mm. long. Female flower:perianth obtusely 3-lobed, rarely with the lobes elongated into narrow filaments to ± 0.3 mm. long; styles 2 mm. long, pubescent below, joined to halfway, with deeply bifid, scarcely thickened apices.
