Branches fleshy, 3(–4)-angled, deeply winged, irregularly and shallowly constricted into oblong segments c. 20 x 3.5 cm, bright green, conspicuously variegated when young; angles sinuately toothed, with teeth 2–4 cm apart

Spine-shields joined to form a continuous horny margin 1–2.5 mm wide along the angles; spine pairs to 1.5 cm long, much shorter at the constrictions; prickles minute
