Diagnostic
Very similar to the preceding (A. crenata) in general habit, but with leaf-bases cuneate, the inflorescences tending to be crowded towards the shoot apices and sometimes also terminal, the ♀ bracts 1.5 mm. long, 4 mm. wide, closely enfolding the ovary and fruit, evenly beset with gland-tipped hairs, the allomorphic ♀ flowers terminal or lateral and scattered amongst the ♂ flowers, having 2 lateral fimbriate whorls, rugulose, puberulous, but not muricate.
Habitat
Damp grassland, rocky and other open places with little grass competition, readily becoming a weed of cultivated ground; 15–2000 m.
