    Habit
    Small creeping or submerged, amphibious herb, tufted.
    Rhizomes
    Rhizomes 1.5–2.5 cm. long in terrestrial plants, 1.5–3.8 cm. long when submerged.
    Leaves
    Leaves 1.5–8 cm. long, 0.4–1.5 mm. in diam., cylindrical or subulate.
    Flowers
    Flowers white, blue beneath, short to long pedicellate.
    Pedicel
    Pedicels 5–35 mm. long.
    Calyx
    Calyx c. 1.5 mm. long, 5-lobed, lobes c. 0.5–0.75 mm. long, triangular, obtuse.
    Corolla
    Corolla tube 1.8–2.2 mm. long, lobes 4–5 subcircular, or somewhat oblong, c. 1.5 mm. long, minutely pilose towards throat.
    Style
    Style 2.5–2.75 mm. long in fruit, persistent.
    Fruits
    Capsule 2–2.5 mm. in diam., subglobose.
