Distribution
Some 15 species distributed in the Northern Hemisphere, one or two extending south into S America; three species in Iraq.
Note
Legousia (named after the 17th century French traveller, Le Gouz – according to Fedorov). The name of its synonym, Specularia, is said to be from the Latin, speculum, mirror, the common European species (L. (S.)veneris) having been widely known as Venus’ looking-glass.
